Launch Total Zip

Follow these steps to launch the app:

  • Click the Windows Start button
  • Type “Total Zip”
  • Look for the matching app entry with this icon 
  • Click the app name to launch the app

The main app window

All essential functions of the application is accessible from the main window.

  1. The main toolbar: provides access to all major functions
    • Add: serves two functions by adding more file content to an existing zip file, or creating a new zip file
    • Extract: unzip selected files or folders to a given folder path
    • Delete: delete selected file/folder from the current folder or zip file
  2. Go to the parent folder
  3. Address bar displaying the current folder path for the content displayed below
  4. Browse for folder
  5. File list window: displays the file content of the current folder or zip file

Open or unzip an archive file

With Total Zip, you have two easy ways to open or extract archive files. The first method is to locate the archive file in Windows Explorer, right-click on it, select “Open with…”, and then choose Total Zip from the list of available programs. Alternatively, you can launch Total Zip and use the “Browse for File” button located next to the “Folder Path” control to locate the archive file.

Once the archive file is selected and opened, Total Zip will display the complete contents of the archive in the “File List” area, as shown in the example below. From here, you can easily select the files and folders you want to extract, and then click on the “Extract” button to save them to your desired location.

Extract file content

To extract items from an opened archive file in Total Zip:

  • Select the items you want to unzip. To select all items, press Ctrl + A
  • Click the “Extract” button in the toolbar
  • Specify the destination folder where you want the items to be unzipped
  • To locate or create a folder, use the “Browse for Folder” dialog box by clicking the folder control
  • Click the “Extract Archive” button to complete the extraction process.

After the selected items have been unzipped, Total Zip automatically opens the destination folder where the unzipped files are located. This feature makes it easy for you to quickly access and find the files you just extracted. No more searching through numerous folders and directories to find the files you need. Total Zip takes the hassle out of the unzipping process by automatically opening the destination folder for you.

Create a zip file

Follow the following steps to create a zip file:

  • Launch Total Zip
  • Use the folder path controls: go up, folder path control, and the Browse for file button to locate the content of the files that you would like to zip
  • Click the Add button to specify the location and the name of the zip file
  • Click Create Archive

You can also choose to password protect the zip file by enabling the Protect Archive with Password option and then provide a password.
